DENIM & IT’S OPPORTUNITY

Cotton fiber harvested in a field is the first ingredient in the denim narrative. It is spun into threads, stained with indigo, and weaved.

Jeans, the most significant item produced from denim, can be further dyed, digitally printed on, or washed using a variety of methods. Cotton is used to make denim clothing. Prior to becoming famous for use in other types of apparel, such as shirts, jackets, and jeans, denim was first used as a material for work clothes. The demand for denim jeans is significantly influenced by the fashion industry, especially social media and fashion influencers. The availability of several denim jean designs, such as slim, tapered, regular, and athletic fit jeans, is also anticipated to become more widely known as social media and e-commerce usage rise.

Research into denim’s potential as a technical textile showed further advantages. Although leather is an expensive material, it is typically chosen for motorcycle clothing. In terms of price and air permeability, denim cloth and leather have both been studied. The goal is to create a practical motorbike driver jacket. As a result, a leather-denim combination jacket has been created, with the front and shoulders which are exposed to the weather the most—being made of leather material and the remaining portions of denim. A new product that could carry out the same function at a much lower cost has been created after the cost of this jacket was compared to that of a full leather jacket.

The denim business in Bangladesh will eventually focus on high-end denim products. As Bangladesh’s denim industry grows and investments are made in R&D, clothing producers can now create more sophisticated denim products. The nation’s manufacturers must start making the investments in machinery and technology required to produce premium, value-added denim apparel. As management in the sector gets more expertise in high-end items and brand image improves even more, the industry must be ready for a denim revolution.

Asia will undergo significant changes as China assumes a bigger and bigger role in the global denim market. Despite being a substantial denim provider today, China’s apparel industry does consume a lot of denim, which is then shipped to the U.S. and Europe as jeanswear, creating the conditions for China to become a rising denim supplier. Before the end of the decade, China will also be the main supplier of denim.

Over the coming years, denim production will increase significantly in India, Pakistan, and Vietnam, but Vietnam is still somewhat of a wild card at this point. Although China will initially play a more significant role in the manufacture of denim than Vietnam, Vietnam has the potential to challenge China as the world’s leading supplier of denim.

The existing capacity of Europe’s modest denim sector, which is mostly based in Italy, will be diminished if that country’s industry boosts its sourcing of fabric from Turkey and North Africa. For Italian textile companies looking to cut production costs, Eastern Europe may emerge as a new source of supply. The E.U. will serve as Turkey’s primary market, making it a significant denim provider in the future. Turkish exporters will probably still use the US as a secondary market.

Fashion trends come and go however, denim continues to be used in the same ways by everyone from actors/actresses and fashion icons to the local populace. Denim has a successful track record. How times have changed, throughout denim has remained a staple for so many people.
